This recipe is for the Tiramisu dessert.
It can be also be made as a Tiramisu cake (pictured below) adding a chocolate mirror glaze.
You do this by adding a layer of cake sponge on the bottom of a round spring-form cake tin and start layering the tiramisu cream and sponge fingers on top. Recipe for the sponge is here.
To have a sponge base helps to remove the tiramisu as a cake.
This is a very easy dessert to make and I don't use raw eggs and it still tastes as good.
You can use other liqueurs but I have used Baileys Irish Cream as I don't have Masala wine.
Hi Mandy.. Do you have any idea what to replace the liqueur ? Can I just omit it out ?
ReplyDeleteYes you can leave the alcohol out, but you could use Kahlua which is a coffee liqueur or Marsala wine which is the original alcohol used in tiramisu.
DeleteI use Tia Maria and Baileys. Especially fond of Baileys as it is a smooth kind of taste, most accepted liqueur for Tiramisu :)
DeleteHi mandy, can I use espresso to replace the liqueur?
ReplyDeleteYou have coffee already so I wouldn't use espresso to substitute the liqueur otherwise the tiramisu would be too bitter and strong. Best just to leave the alcohol out if you don't want to add any in.
Deletemay I know, when I was mix up the cream into marcarpone cheese the whisked cream become watery milk and out from marcarpone mixed.
ReplyDeleteIf there any part I did wrong?
You might have over whisked you cream before you add to the mascapone.
DeleteMay I know approximately how many pieces of sponge fingers did you use for your recipe?
ReplyDeleteI haven't counted the pieces but I used the whole packet.
DeleteHi Mandy, can I use sponge cake instead of sponge fingers?
ReplyDeleteYes, I made a Tiramisu cake using cake sponge.
DeleteHi Mandy, just curious will the cake hold its shape without the use of gelatin?
ReplyDeleteRegards
Helen
Yes it will as long as your cream is stiff. And make sure it's completely chilled so the mascarpone sets again.
DeleteGreat ! I can make this for my family gathering cause some of them are vegetarian and cannot take gelatin.
DeleteCheers
